The turn of the year brings with it a wonderful opportunity for reflection, renewal, and the chance to set new goals. As book lovers, what better way to embrace the upcoming year than by setting inspiring reading resolutions? Whether you’re a voracious reader or someone looking to rekindle a lost love for books, let’s embark together on a literary journey filled with purpose and passion.

Reflecting on the Past
Before diving into new reading adventures, it’s essential to take a moment to reflect on the past year’s literary explorations. What were the books that left an indelible mark on your mind? Were there genres you discovered or authors whose words resonated deeply within you?
Personally, I found myself drawn to a diverse range of genres last year, from fantasy and science fiction to romance. These explorations broadened my reading horizons and introduced me to narratives I might have overlooked otherwise. Reflecting on this, my resolution for the upcoming year is to delve even deeper into various genres, embracing stories that transport me to different worlds and perspectives.
Setting Literary Goals
As we step into the New Year, let’s outline some concrete literary goals. These goals need not be overly ambitious; they should align with your schedule, interests, and reading pace. Here are a few ideas to consider when setting your reading resolutions:
1. Quantity vs. Quality
Consider setting a goal for the number of books you aim to read. Whether it’s 12 books for the year (one per month) or a more ambitious target, like 50 or 100 books, let this goal inspire you without becoming a source of stress. Remember, it’s not just about the quantity; the quality of your reading experience matters most.
2. Exploring Diverse Voices
Diversifying your reading list is an enriching endeavor. Make it a goal to read books by authors from different cultures, backgrounds, or identities. Seek out stories that offer unique perspectives and voices, broadening your understanding of the world.
3. Genre Exploration
Challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone. If you predominantly read fiction, why not explore non-fiction, poetry, or graphic novels? Embracing different genres can open doors to unexpected literary treasures.
4. Tackling Specific Reading Challenges
Join reading challenges or create your own! Whether it’s a themed reading challenge, a book club selection, or a “TBR jar” where you pick random unread books from your shelf, these challenges add an element of excitement and structure to your reading.
5. Engaging with Community
Consider participating in literary communities, book clubs, or online reading forums. Engaging in discussions and sharing insights about the books you read can enhance your reading experience and introduce you to different perspectives.
Dear readers, I invite you to join me on this literary adventure by setting your own reading resolutions. Take a moment to contemplate what reading means to you and what goals you’d like to achieve in the coming year. Share your aspirations, be they grand or humble, and let’s support each other in this wonderful journey through the world of books.
What are your reading resolutions for the upcoming year? Share them with me, and let’s embark on this delightful literary voyage together.
Happy Reading and Happy New Year!
With love,

Happy New Year, Chiara! As you said, for me it’s quality over quantity: I set my reading goal to 12 books (it’s gonna be a challenging year academically) and am very open to positive surprises. 🙂 I also hope to be able to read some more books in the first half of the year (starting strong ;). Let’s see how it goes.
