Review

Annie Wildwood has built a perfectly pink, picture-perfect life. She’s got charm, polish, and a little too much pride in how put-together everything appears. But when she’s unexpectedly assigned to mentor a powerful and unpredictable teenage witch, Annie’s world quickly unravels. As chaos creeps into her carefully curated life, she’s forced to confront the cracks beneath her perfection.

Set in the same cozy, magical universe as Rewitched (but not a direct sequel), Uncharmed stands on its own as a story about letting go of expectations, embracing who you truly are, and finding comfort in people who love you unconditionally. Flaws, messiness and all.

If you’re looking for a cozy, feel-good read to wrap up your October, Uncharmed might just be it. This book was cute and comforting in all the right ways, full of magical moments and autumnal charm. It’s the kind of story that invites you to slow down, sip something warm, and settle into a world where found family and gentle magic take center stage.

I really enjoyed the way the story leaned into themes of community and imperfection. The found family vibes were strong here and the warmth between the characters gave the book a lot of heart. Maeve was definitely a highlight for me. I loved her grounded, calm energy and the gentle strength she brought to the story. Her friendship with Annie was one of my favorite parts and added some lovely emotional depth.

That said, I didn’t feel as drawn to Annie herself. While she was sweet and had her moments, I couldn’t shake the feeling that she was a bit too naive and one-note for a main character. There were times I found it hard to really care about her personal journey which made me feel a little disconnected from the heart of the story.

Another thing that didn’t quite hit for me was the plot. Compared to Rewitched, which had a clearer sense of direction, Uncharmed felt a bit vague. It was more about vibes than structure and while that worked for the cozy moments, it did leave me wishing for a stronger central storyline to keep things moving.
