Gothtober Readathon Update #3

Hi loves! This is my third and final update on the Gothtober Readathon. I kind of forgot updating you guys last Saturday (oops my bad) so I’ll do it in this post. This was really fun to do, I certainly enjoyed reading so many books and exploring new themes and genres. I also wanted to wish everyone a happy Halloween. I hope everyone is getting cozy tonight. So enjoy whatever you’re doing from reading a book to watching a (scary) movie! 🎃👻🕸️

Foreign Country – Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco

I have read Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco last week and really enjoyed it.

I read Kingdom of the Wicked for the prompt Foreign Country. I really wanted to read the book and I’m glad I did. The book is set in Italy!

Rating 4/5 stars – review is on my blog

MODERN RETELLING/GOTHIC READ – MEXICAN GOTHIC BY SILVIA MORENO-GARCIA

So this is a difficult one. I liked Mexican Gothic but didn’t love it. It might be because I listened to the audiobook and just couldn’t fully follow every event. I might reread this book next year since I saw a lot of people loving it.

Rating 3/5 stars – won’t be reviewing this

Undead character Als doden dromen by Mel Hartman

I liked this one. Als doden dromen is a Dutch novel by a Belgian author. It’s about ghosts and other magical creatures.

Rating 4/5 stars – review is on my blog (in Dutch since this is a Dutch book)

Oldest purchased – All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

I read All the Bright Places today in like 4 hours lol, I think that’s a record. I liked it but only for the story and the message. I didn’t like Theo at all in the beginning. If he said the things he said to Violet to me I wouldn’t be happy and probably would block his ass or something. He did grow on me and I liked him more and more towards the ending.

Rating 3,5 stars – won’t be reviewing this

LGBTQ+ Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas

Ugh this book!!!! I’m only 20% in but I love this book already. I am listening to the audiobook but I’m thinking of switching to the ebook. I listen to the book before going to bed and find myself dosing off while the book is still playing. So there are times I miss some information lol and I just want to really focus on the story, you know.

For this readathon I’ve read:
RED: A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
GREY MORALITY: The Young Elites by Marie Lu
FOREIGN COUNTRY: Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco
MODERN RETELLING: Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
UNDEAD CHARACTER: Als doden dromen by Mel Hartman
OLDEST PURCHASED: All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

I’m currently reading/listening to:
LGBTQ+: Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
DARK ACADEMIA: Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

Did you participate in the Gothtober Readathon? If so, which book was your favourite to read? Mine probably was A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder! Let me know in the comments.
