book beginnings on fridays | september 9th

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing great. In today’s ‘book beginnings on fridays’ I’m checking out This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi. I really like the concept of checking out a books first sentence, I feel like the first sentence of a book can give you a preview of what the book is going to be like.

Book beginnings on Fridays is hosted by Rose City Reader, and it is a chance to share the first sentence or so of a book you’ve reading, about to read or recently read.

This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi

ALIZEH STITCHED IN THE KITCHEN by the light of star and fire, sitting, as she often did, curled up inside the hearth.

His sentence is absolutely beautiful. By the light of star and fire? I mean, wow that’s a gorgeous way of describing this scene.

I used to be a huge fan of Mafi’s Shatter Me series when I was younger. Book one through three were amazing. However, I didn’t care for books four, five and six. I do feel like rereading the first three books because I was a huge sucker for Aaron Warner back then and I’d like to see if I still feel that way, haha.

I am curious to see if This Woven Kingdom lives up to the hype. I suspect it does and can’t wait to read it.

Synopsis

To all the world, Alizeh is a disposable servant, not the long-lost heir to an ancient Jinn kingdom forced to hide in plain sight.

The crown prince, Kamran, has heard the prophecies foretelling the death of his king. But he could never have imagined that the servant girl with the strange eyes, the girl he can’t put out of his mind, would one day soon uproot his kingdom—and the world.

  1. I need to read this one as well. And I agree even I prefer first three books of shatter me than the last three. Beginning of Juliette and Aaron relationship was so fine. I’m still sucker for him. My ig is full of his reels 😭not guilty at all
