This is my second update for this readathon. I am now convinced I won’t be able to read all the books I wanted to read. But honestly, that’s okay :). I’m enjoying this readathon and that’s all that counts! I’m also finally reading some books that have been on my tbr for like forever which I’m really happy with.
GREY MORALITY – THE YOUNG ELITES BY MARIE LU
I have read The Young Elites by Marie Lu this week and man does it feel good to read without having to think about writing a review. I still might do a mini-review just because I like the concept and I feel like Marie’s books aren’t nearly as popular as they should be.
I read TYE for the prompt Grey Morality. Adelina fits this prompt perfectly. I am a bit sad because this book came out like 6 years ago and I literally read 3 spoilers this week. I’m still going to finish the series because I am a huge fan of Marie Lu. She has an amazing writing style and I would read anything she brings out. But um yeah, that happened.
Rating 4/5 stars – mini review to come
MODERN RETELLING/GOTHIC READ – MEXICAN GOTHIC BY SILVIA MORENO-GARCIA
I am currently listening to Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. I like it but I don’t think it will be one of my fave reads this year. It might be because I’m listening to the audiobook but so far nothing really happened? Like I’m halfway through the book and there hasn’t been any progress in the plot. I have read some other reviews saying the spooky shit happens in the last 50 pages, so I’ll just wait. I do like the way it’s told. Frankie Corzo is an amazing narrator and her voice is very beautiful to listen to. I do also love the atmosphere in this book. It’s very unsettling and creepy. Hopefully the story gets more interesting!
