The year is coming to an end, and I’ve found some new authors I really like. I do have a select group of authors who are on my auto-buy list. Some authors that never disappoint no matter what they write. In 2020, I’ve read books by a lot of authors I didn’t know and some of these are now on my auto-buy list!

Marie lu
As many of you know, Marie Lu’s book got me into reading. She’s definitely an auto-buy author for me. I will read all of her books. I don’t care what genre they are.
Marie Lu is the author of the #1 New York Times bestselling series The Young Elites,
as well as the blockbuster bestselling Legend series. She graduated from the
University of Southern California and jumped into the video game industry as an
artist and art director. Now a full-time writer, she lives in Los Angeles, California,
where she spends her spare time reading, drawing, playing games, and getting stuck
in traffic.

Claudia Gray
I found out about Gray’s books in 2019 and absolutely loved them. My favourites are definitely the book in the Firebird trilogy (A Thousand Pieces of You, Ten Thousand Skies Above You and A Million Worlds With You). I absolutely fell in love with her writing and am planning on reading and buying her other books in 2021.
Claudia Gray is the pseudonym of Amy Vincent. She is the writer of multiple young adult novels, including the Evernightseries, the Firebird trilogy and the Constellation trilogy. In addition, she’s written several Star Wars novels, such as Lost Stars and Bloodline. She makes her home in New Orleans with her partner Paul and assorted small dogs. You can keep up with her latest releases, thoughts on writing and various pop-culture musings via Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, GoodReads, Instagram or (of course) my own home page

R.F. Kuang
This is a new addition to my list. I listened to the audiobook of The Poppy War and The Dragon Republic and just fell in love with Kuang’s storytelling. I get why people on booktwitter love this series so much. Kuang is just a master writer. Her characters are well-built and her plots are mind-blowing.
Rebecca F. Kuang is a Marshall Scholar, Chinese-English translator, and the Astounding Award-winning and Nebula, Locus, and World Fantasy Award nominated author of the Poppy War trilogy. Her work has won the Crawford Award and the Compton Crook Award for Best First Novel. She has an MPhil in Chinese Studies from Cambridge and an MSc in Contemporary Chinese Studies from Oxford; she is now pursuing a PhD in East Asian Languages and Literatures at Yale.

Marissa Meyer
So Marissa Meyer her books are perfect in my opinion. I literally love all of her books going from the Lunar Chronicles to Heartless and the Renegades trilogy. Now I do have to admit I haven’t read her latest book yet, Instant Karma. The genre isn’t really my thing and I have heard quite a few bad things about it, so I might pass on that one. But I loved all her other books!
Marissa Meyer is the #1 New York Times-bestselling author of The Lunar Chronicles, Heartless, The Renegades Trilogy, and Instant Karma, as well as the graphic novel duology Wires and Nerve. She holds a BA in Creative Writing from Pacific Lutheran University and a MA in Publishing from Pace University. In addition to writing, Marissa hosts The Happy Writer podcast. She lives near Tacoma, Washington, with her husband and twin daughters.

She has been a finalist for an Eisner Award and the Lodestar Award, and the recipient of the Mythopoeic Award, a Nebula, and a Newbery Honor. Aiden Thomas
I absolutely adored Cemetery Boys by Aidan Thomas. This is definitely a new auto-buy author for me!
Aiden Thomas is a New York Times Bestselling Author with an MFA in Creative Writing from Mills College. Originally from Oakland, California, they now make their home in Portland, OR. As a queer, trans Latinx, Aiden advocates strongly for diverse representation in all media. Aiden’s special talents include: quoting The Office, useless trivia, Jenga, finishing sentences with “is my FAVORITE”, and killing spiders. Aiden is notorious for not being able to guess the endings of books and movies, and organizes their bookshelves by color.

Nicola Yoon
Nicola Yoon is another auto-buy author for me. I really enjoyed Everything Everything and The Sun Is Also a Star. I was wondering if I had missed some of her books because I have only read those two, but she hasn’t written anything new. As soon as she announces a new book I will pre-order it!
Nicola Yoon is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Everything, Everything and The Sun Is Also a Star. She is a National Book Award finalist, a Michael L. Printz Honor Book recipient and a Coretta Scott King New Talent Award winner. Both her novels have been made into major motion pictures. She grew up in Jamaica and Brooklyn, and lives in Los Angeles with her husband, the novelist David Yoon, and their daughter.
