In this series I give tips on which audiobooks you really should listen to and can find on the Storytel app. Of course, you can listen to these books on any other app, but I use Storytel and know they have these books on there!

I really enjoyed this book. It’s such an original story, and it has great characters. This book is written in two point of views, Enne’s pov and Levi’s pov. Enne is such a cute and innocent girl who arrives in a city she doesn’t know anything about. She’s so pure and I’m sure she’d do anything for the people she loves. And Levi, oh my god Levi. He’s amazing. Levi is a Black bisexual young man and a street lord. Ace of Shades has a lot more amazing characters who are all unique.
The setting and world-building in Ace of Shades are also amazing. Foody really created this new, grim world in which you have to fight to survive. I also really love the idea of parents gifting their children a skill. Enne is a Salta which is a family of dancers. So that makes Enne naturally good at dancing. That’s such an amazing idea, very original!
I’d definitely recommend this book. I loved the audiobook but when I look at the synopsis I feel like I misheard a lot of words. I do however love the accent Levi has in the audiobook. It makes the story even more original.

Ik heb echt genoten van dit boek. Het is zo’n origineel verhaal, en het heeft geweldige karakters. Dit boek is geschreven in twee standpunten, die van Enne en die van Levi. Enne is zo’n schattig en onschuldig meisje dat aankomt in een stad waar ze niets van af weet. Ze is zo puur en ik weet zeker dat ze alles zou doen voor de mensen van wie ze houdt. En Levi, oh mijn god Levi. Hij is geweldig. Levi is een zwarte biseksuele jongeman en een straatheer. Ace of Shades heeft nog veel meer geweldige personages die elk uniek zijn.
De setting en wereldopbouw in Ace of Shades zijn ook verbluffend. Foody heeft echt deze nieuwe, grimmige wereld gecreëerd waarin je moet vechten om te overleven. Ik hou ook echt van het idee dat ouders hun kinderen een vaardigheid geven. Enne is een Salta, een familie van dansers. Dat maakt Enne dus van nature goed in dansen. Dat is zo’n geweldig idee, heel origineel!
Ik zou dit boek zeker aanbevelen. Ik hield van het audioboek, maar als ik naar de synopsis kijk, heb ik het gevoel dat ik veel woorden verkeerd heb verstaan. Ik ben echter dol op het accent dat Levi heeft in het audioboek. Het maakt het verhaal nog origineler.
