Synopsis

This was so fun and fast-paced! The audiobook was only 8 hours and 45 minutes long and exactly what I needed. Crownchasers is very original and pure science fiction, something I don’t see a lot these days, especially when it’s young adult sci-fi. In this book Alyssa Farshot (Faroshti) is thrown into a race for the crown. She has to find the royal seal which is hidden somewhere in the empire.
I really enjoyed the plot of this book. It was fun and original. The villain of the story was a bit predictable, but that didn’t bother me. The characters in Crownchasers are the best. I loved Alyssa so much, she’s a total badass and reminded me a lot about Han Solo (the author tweeted saying Han was definitely a character jumping off point). Hell Monkey is the most loving, adorable and supportive engineer ever. I would love to see some fan-art of these characters, so I can see what they’re supposed to look like!
I am definitely planning on buying Crownchasers en it’s sequel Thronebreakers. I enjoyed the audiobook a lot, but think I would’ve enjoyed the book even more. It might be my fault, but I had a hard time remembering the names of all the characters and I think reading them and seeing how they’re spelled would’ve helped me. That’s why I’m not posting this review as a Storytel tip! However, I need to say I absolutely loved the narrator Reba Buhr. Her voice suited Alyssa so well, and she did an amazing job.
I’d definitely recommend Crownchasers and can’t wait to read the sequel.

Dit was zo leuk en snel! Het audioboek was slechts 8 uur en 45 minuten lang en precies wat ik nodig had. Crownchasers is zeer originele en pure sciencefiction, iets wat ik niet veel zie. In dit boek wordt Alyssa Farshot (Faroshti) in een race om de kroon geworpen. Ze moet het koninklijke zegel vinden dat ergens in het rijk verborgen is.
Ik heb echt genoten van de plot van dit boek. Het was leuk en origineel. De slechterik van het verhaal was een beetje voorspelbaar, maar dat stoorde me niet. De personages in Crownchasers zijn de beste. Ik hield zo veel van Alyssa, ze is een echte badass en herinnerde me veel aan Han Solo (de auteur tweette dat Han absoluut een startpunt van een personage was). Hell Monkey is de meest liefdevolle, vriendelijke en bemoedigende ingenieur ooit. Ik zou graag wat fan-art van deze personages zien, zodat ik kan zien hoe ze eruit zouden moeten zien!
Ik ben zeker van plan Crownchasers en het vervolg Thronebreakers als paperbacks te kopen. Ik heb erg genoten van het audioboek, maar denk dat ik nog meer van het papieren boek had genoten. Het is misschien mijn schuld, maar ik had er moeite mee om de namen van alle karakters te onthouden en ik denk dat het me zou hebben geholpen om ze te lezen en te zien hoe ze gespeld zijn. Daarom plaats ik deze recensie niet als een Storytel-tip! Ik moet echter zeggen dat ik absoluut dol was op de verteller Reba Buhr. Haar stem paste zo goed bij Alyssa, en ze deed het geweldig.
Ik zou Crownchasers zeker aanbevelen en kan niet wachten om het vervolg te lezen.
