Wrap-up heavenlybookish / March ’23

No big updates this month. As always, you can find all my English reviews here and all my Dutch reviews here.

I read these books

Kingdom of the Wicked (Kingdom of the Wicked #1) by Kerri Maniscalco / ★★★★

Synopsis –

Two sisters.
One brutal murder.
A quest for vengeance that will unleash Hell itself…
And an intoxicating romance.

Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are streghe – witches who live secretly among humans, avoiding notice and persecution. One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family’s renowned Sicilian restaurant. Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin…desecrated beyond belief. Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister’s killer and to seek vengeance at any cost—even if it means using dark magic that’s been long forbidden.

Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked—princes of Hell she has been warned against in tales since she was a child. Wrath claims to be on Emilia’s side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women’s murders on the island. But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems…

I listened to these audiobooks

The Bridge Kingdom (The Bridge Kingdom #1) by Danielle L. Jensen / ★★★¾

Synopsis –

A warrior princess trained in isolation, Lara is driven by two certainties. The first is that King Aren of the Bridge Kingdom is her enemy. And the second is that she’ll be the one to bring him to his knees.

The only route through a storm-ravaged world, the Bridge Kingdom enriches itself and deprives its rivals, including Lara’s homeland. So when she’s sent as a bride under the guise of peace, Lara is prepared to do whatever it takes to fracture its impenetrable defenses. And the defenses of its king.

Yet as she infiltrates her new home and gains a deeper understanding of the war to possess the bridge, Lara begins to question whether she’s the hero or the villain. And as her feelings for Aren transform from frosty hostility to fierce passion, Lara must choose which kingdom she’ll save… and which kingdom she’ll destroy.

The one book that really stood out this month was…

I liked both of them! Kingdom of the Wicked was a reread so I knew I was going to like it. And The Bridge Kingdom really surprised me!

Some books I added to my TBR this month were

The Serpent and the Wings of Night (SCrowns of Nyaxia #1) by Carissa Broadbent! Did I add it to my TBR because of the cover? Yes.

Did you read some enjoyable books this month? If so, which one was your favourite? Let me know in the comments!

  1. You mention Juliette in the synopsis of Kingdom of the Wicked, but I guess you mean Emilia 🙂 Juliette is the main character in Dochter van de Scharlaken Rozen which released nearly at the same time 🙂

Are you reviewing more in English than in Dutch these days?

    1. Ohh thanks for noticing! I forgot to change the synopsis from the Shatter Me series haha that’s why it said Juliette. I usually just copy my previous post to keep the layout the same

  2. The Bridge Kingdom is on my TBR, but I’ve been putting it off bc the cover makes me think it’s a generic romantasy. I hope that’s not the case?
